Members of the Six Communities
Our primary objective at Tracka is to foster a culture of civic engagement in governance especially in monitoring the public projects in their areas. We believe this will facilitate the efficient service delivery and curtail the misuse of public funds.
On the 19th November 2016, Tracka Officers Ilevbaoje Uadamen and Mohammed Rasaq held a meeting at the Geregu Community Primary School with members of six communities namely Geregu, Adoko, Gidan Bassa, Poroko, Emiworo and Ewo in Geregu District.
The meeting was organised to sensitise the Residents of the Federal Government provisions allotted to them in the 2016 budget, the projects include:
Solar powered Borehole at Ajaokuta/Geregu District, Hand Pump Borehole at Jingbe, Elaite, Emiworo, Poroko, Gidan Bassa and Ero wards Kogi state for N26 million.
Solar powered street light at Ajaokuta, Geregu, Adogo and Ebiya wards Kogi State for N26 million.
The gathering started at 2:00 pm with an opening Prayer by Mallam Idris Adamu. Tracka team got introduced to community members present briefly explaining the purpose of the visit.
Uadamen emphasised the crux of zonal intervention projects to the people and encouraged them to be actively involved in the process, to ensure their cogent needs are captured in subsequent budgets.
We observed community members present at the meeting were unaware of the Solar powered provisions and identified they have more pressing needs like an irrigation dam for agricultural produce. They were curious to know if they could replace the services and the processes involved.
Tracka Officers encouraged indigenes to actively and consistently engage their Representatives at the National Assembly to be involved early in the budget making process and see to it that only important projects are captured in the budget.
The meeting ended with a vote of thanks and closing prayers by the Tracking Officer, Rasaq Mohammed.
